The National Film and Sound Archive of Australia has entered a collecting partnership with Stan to acquire its Stan Originals commissioned content and co-productions.
The partnership marks the first time the NFSA has undertaken collecting from a streaming service, and the beginning of an ongoing relationship with Stan. All Stan Originals content since the service’s launch in 2015 will enter the national audiovisual collection, in an agreement spanning nearly 140 hours of drama, comedy, factual and feature film titles.
‘This landmark agreement recognises the cultural impact of streaming platforms and the long-term value of preserving born-digital content for the benefit of future Australians,’ said Meagan Loader, the NFSA’s Chief Curator. ‘Our ongoing partnership and collection will reflect Stan’s contribution to Australian culture and the evolution of our television landscape over its first decade and into the future.’

Featured Stan Originals titles include true crime documentary series Revealed: Death Cap Murders, award-winning drama series Bump, reality series Drag Race Down Under and co-productions Lord of the Flies and The Hack.
Stan-commissioned feature and factual films in the acquisition include documentary Revealed: Ben Roberts-Smith – Truth on Trial, crime thriller Transfusion and the fantasy adventure The Portable Door.
The collection also includes a significant amount of stand-up comedy with Australian Lockdown Comedy Festival and one-off specials such as Wil Anderson: Fire at Wil, Celia Pacquola: The Looking Glass and Judith Lucy: Ask No Questions of the Moth.
The titles bring the total number of hours of Stan content in the NFSA to more than 350, including content acquired through other collection partnerships.

ABOUT THE NATIONAL FILM AND SOUND ARCHIVE OF AUSTRALIA
The National Film and Sound Archive of Australia is the national audiovisual cultural institution.
