RackaRacka Live: Stunt Gone Wrong

2017

  • NFSA ID1563991

This production still was taken on the set of the popular YouTube video STUNT GONE WRONG (Live). Produced by RackaRacka, AKA comedy stunt duo and twin brothers Michael and Danny Philippou, this video notably features Michael in a Ronald McDonald costume performing a jumping stunt which spirals into injury, kidnapping and the discovery of a beast.

RackaRacka’s channel has garnered a large following due to their audacious and wacky stunts and videos that blur the lines between documentary and fiction to humorous and shocking effect. Though the scenes may slide into the fantastical, the stunt efforts viewers see are very real. On a meta-level, the production image adds another behind-the-scenes layer: it shows the wires, camera crew and equipment involved in staging the dangerous stunt for the mockumentary.

The Philippou brothers have since gone on to be successful horror filmmakers. Their feature debut Talk to Me premiered at the 2023 Sundance Film Festival, while their second feature Bring Her Back was released in 2025. STUNT GONE WRONG (Live) now has more than 2 million views on YouTube and was created with the support of Screen Australia and YouTube through the Skip Ahead production initiative.
