2010s

The 2010s picked up the pace of change, with streaming services and podcasts presenting culture as a smorgasbord. TV series like Halal Gurls and Kiki and Kitty explored diversity, while Zero Point introduced a First Nations superhero. The 50th anniversary of the Aboriginal flag prompted reflection on identity. Music and performance went global with Gotye’s all-consuming hit and Australia’s Eurovision debut. Dylan Alcott triumphed on the tennis court, and the Oscars kept coming. It’sa decade that remixed identity, diversity and stardom – Australia streaming, singing and debating itself into a new era.
