Media and Me

Visit us in Canberra for Media and Me, the NFSA's onsite media literacy program inspired by Australia's screen and sound history.

Media and Me introduces students to key concepts in media literacy, develops critical thinking skills and empowers students to become curious and confident media consumers and creators.

Media and Me: Primary

A woman stands in front of a full theatrette of school children, many who have raised one hand in the air to nominate themselves in some way.

This program is designed to make media literacy relevant and accessible to primary school aged students. Students engage with media made for them, ranging from early works to contemporary audiovisual content from the national collection.

We explore how the Australian story is told and shaped through images, sound and text across a range of media examples – including animation, advertising, video games, social video, film, and music.

Through engaging discussion and guided exploration, students consider how different examples influence audiences and gain confidence to question and interpret the media that surround them.
