Net FM was the first Australian station to broadcast exclusively over the internet and later the first to be issued with an online webcasting licence by APRA AMCOS (now OneMusic).

This opening transmission by Nicholas Baltinos highlights how historic they considered the moment to be, likening it to the beginning of television in Australia.

Internet radio was at the time unregulated and not subject to broadcasting legislation or rules. Net FM was proudly and unashamedly rude and offensive, able to transmit content that terrestrial radio stations would never have been allowed to.
