The 25th Logies presentation was televised on 26 April 1983 on the Ten Network, a day after the event was held at Melbourne’s Wentworth Regis Hotel.

Graham was growing his beard for a small role in the David Puttnam film The Killing Fields (1984), shot in Thailand.
The honour of presenting the Gold Logie was usually granted to international stars, such as Italian actress Gina Lollobrigida (in 1974), John Wayne (1975), Mohammed Ali (1978) and Raquel Welch (1981).
Network Ten had only previously televised the awards once, in 1981. While the Nine Network has always had the predominant association with the awards, the Seven Network and the ABC have televised the awards occasionally across the years.
