In this 1962 recording, Graham and Bert perform a classic radio stunt during the 3AK morning radio program Graham's Hideout.
They tune into rival Melbourne station 3UZ and talk to disc jockey Don Lunn as if he can hear them. They call out ‘Ooh Poo Pah Doo’, the title of a popular song at the time, to attract his attention.
When Don is made aware they've been talking to him on air, he has a short conversation with Bert and Graham across the airwaves, station to station.

Don refers to Graham’s upcoming trip to the USA and makes an oblique reference to the musical How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying which Graham, a musical theatre fan, was planning to see on Broadway. It was reported at the time that he was visiting the United States for 20 days during which he would take part in the judging of a contest for an American girl to visit Australia to appear on In Melbourne Tonight.
This extract is from the morning radio program ‘Graham’s Hideout’, 1962. Co-presenters Graham Kennedy and Bert Newton are broadcasting on relay from a purpose-built studio in Kennedy’s home in Frankston for Melbourne radio station 3AK.
