Broadcast from 1984 to 2016, Take 40 Australia was the country’s longest running music countdown show.

It aired nationwide, the song selection based on the ARIA (Australian Recording Industry Association) charts for that week. For the first 20 years, it was hosted by FOX FM presenter Barry Bissell, who can be heard in this clip from 1986. His tone here is an example of how professional he was throughout his tenure.

The excerpt also features the Take 40 theme song which is typical of the generic rock of the era but is still memorable to audiences today.
