This black-and-white Australasian Gazette newsreel clip from 1927 is the last part of a newsreel special based on the arrival of the Duke and Duchess of York to Sydney on 26 March 1927.
It begins with the Duke and Duchess of York arriving at Farm Cove, Sydney on the royal barge. The official party salute their Royal Highnesses as they disembark from the barge. A decorative platform was made especially for the occasion and hundreds of thousands of Sydneysiders watched on with great excitement.
The Lord Mayor of Sydney, JH Mostyn, then extends a welcome on behalf of the citizens of Sydney.
