This 1966 segment of the weekly current affairs program 7 Days was the first Australian television program to focus on Australia's lesbian community. It features interviews conducted by presenter Anne Deveson, including with pioneering lesbian businesswoman Dawn O'Donnell, who appears off camera.

The private house party depicted in this clip is a window into both the challenges and connections experienced by lesbians in the 1960s. To protect their identities, the women are cast in shadow, filmed from behind, or have their faces turned away from the camera lens. Reflecting the fraught culture of secrecy and discrimination they lived under, the subjects are not seen fully, but their acts of tenderness are brought to the fore.

A poignant acoustic rendition of 'Unchained Melody' is being performed as a lesbian couple dances closely together, setting an intimate, reflective tone for the documentary footage. Despite the systemic and social pressure, the genuine feeling of love brought friends and couples together in spaces carved out by community.
